BIOGRAPHY
Ibalú Alba was born in Cochabamba, Bolivia, where she lived until the age of fourteen when her parents emigrated to the United States.

In the U.S. Alba completed her education obtaining a sociology degree from the University of Maryland, College Park in 2012 and a masters degree in Anthropology and Social Change from the California Institute of Integral Studies in 2017. She published two critical essays based on her masters thesis on the ways in which individualism and solidarity interact within leftist activism in the global north.

In early 2018 Alba moved to Germany to embark on performance as a form of social intervention that is rooted in syncretic culture of her place of origin. She received a fine arts scholarship in 2022 to study sculpture and spent one year in Rome. After this experience Alba returned to Berlin in order to better nourish her own studio practice. Throughout this time Alba continued to deepen her performance skills by also taking part in various courses and workshops under the guidance of internationally recognized artists.

Alba currently lives and works between Germany and Bolivia.
Her current research focuses on themes of grief, memory work, migration, and exile.
